I stumbled upon this girl on Instagram by chance, and almost instantly new we saw the world in a similar way. Lover of good rock music, thrifting and rad fashion, meet Liv. I’m sure you will like her.

Tell us a bit about yourself:

Hiya! My name is Liv! I’m 16 and I create YouTube videos. A particular interest of mine is fashion and video editing. Something a lot of people don’t know is that my full name is Olivia after Olivia Newton John another retro babe from the 70’s that I love. I am a huge fashion and music enthusiast and I love anything from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. I’m quite retro and different in terms of the way I dress and I love to express myself from the inside out through funky clothing. I love to have a good time and I am a firm believer in doing what you love and expressing yourself. I love to encourage others through my YouTube channel to be who you want to be and to create a positive community of people who help one another.

What are your go-to fashion pieces in the winter?

I love to keep warm in the winter with an oversized jacket whether its my brown suede or my Dad’s old Levi denim. A statement jacket that can suit anything you wear is defiantly a go-to item as well as a good pair of jeans!!! I find winter a difficult season to style outfits, also keeping in mind that I don’t want to freeze my ass off haha so I like to layer long sleeved tops under slip dresses or tops so I can get more wear out of some of my favourite summer clothes.

Describe your style in three words:

I would describe my style as quite a mix but in three words I would say it’s retro, bohemian but also a little bit edgy. I don’t like to blend in with the crowd but I also love to express my interests through the way I dress.

Who are your biggest style influences?

Some of my biggest style influences that I look up to are other YouTuber’s such as Cartia Mallan and Mika Francis. I love their unique style. It has taken me a while to finally be able to not copy but use these ladies as inspiration and to put my own spin on things. Everything from their attitude towards life to fashion encourages me to do the same and help spread that message to my own community of subscribers. I also get ideas from films as well as music artists. Stevie Nicks is also an absolute goddess, anything worn by her I adore.

Favourite tunes on your playlist currently?

I have been obsessed with Fleetwood Mac recently especially their live performance audio’s. ‘If You Be My Baby’ is one of my favourites. I am also in love with Zayn’s album Mind of Mine, everything about that album is perfect. The 1975’s latest album of course is amazing! I have also been raiding my parent’s music stash recently so I’ve been listening to a lot of older music like the Eagles, the Rolling Stones and Elvis.

If you could see any band live who would it be and why?

I have seen two bands out of my long list of favourite artists live but the band I would love to see live would be Guns N Roses. I grew up listening to them and their tunes are so much fun to jam out to and they have so many iconic songs that give me goosebumps when I listen to them. It would be amazing to see them perform especially in an outdoors venue.

What would be your top movie pick for a girl’s night in?

My favourite movies of all time are Empire Records and 10 Things I Hate About You so I would definitely recommend watching those for a girl’s night in. Johnny Whitworth and Heath Ledger are quite easy on the eyes. 😉

 Sneakers or boots?

I would like to say boots but I always wear sneakers haha.

 Suede or denim?

That’s a hard question but lately I love wearing suede and anything brown.

 Tassels or lace?

I’ve never worn tassels! I’d have to be pretty brave to try that but I definitely wear lace.

If you could time travel, which era would you go back to?

I would for sure time travel back to the 70’s, probably just so I could walk around in jumpsuits and go go boots and look on trend and rave to disco music.

Any advice for girls starting their own YouTube channel?

My advice would be just to be yourself and create content that you are passionate about. Be true and confident within your videos and people like you will slowly find you and the word will spread! Don’t forget to love what you have created and to be proud of what you do. Self promoting on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter helps too!
